AUTHOR GRANTED LEAVE TO APPEAL AGAINST BANNING OF BOOK
The Johannesburg High Court on March 16 granted author Allen Greenblo and publisher Jonathan Ball leave to appeal against the banning of the book, "Kerzner Unauthorised", about hotel magnate Sol Kerzner. No date has been set for the hearing.
The Johannesburg High Court on December 11 1997 granted a permanent interdict against the publication, sale, distribution and marketing of "Kerzner Unauthorised", following an application in this regard by Kerzner, his former wife Anneline Kriel, and the hotel and leisure company, Sun International. In handing down judgement, the Judge found that the book could harm Kerzner’s good name in future business interests and was defamatory to Kriel.
