RE: DROPPING OF CHARGES AGAINST CITY PRESS JOURNALIST

The FXI welcomes the dropping of drug possession charges against City Press journalist Mapula Sibanda.

The FXI viewed the arrest and charging of Sibanda as an unnecessary and vindicative action, considering the context within which she had approached the police.

We trust the dropping of the charges bodes well for the future relationship between the media and the police.
