ANTI-TERRORISM BILL [B12-2003]

The Anti-Terrorism Bill [B12-2003] has been introduced in Parliament on the 10th March 2003, and referred to the Portfolio Committee on Safety and Security on the 14th March 2003 for consideration and report.

The Bill gives effect, within the Republic of South Africa, to the relevant international instruments relating to terrorism; and it provides for offences relating to terrorist acts, measures designed to combat terrorism; and matters connected therewith.

Any organization or person who would like to make written submissions to the Committee may do so not later than 30 April 2003. While general comments on the Bill are allowed, it is however recommended that specific amendments to the Bill be proposed and focused on.

Written submissions should be addressed to: The Secretary to Parliament, PO Box 15, Cape Town, 8000, and marked for the attention of Mr Nkosekhaya Lala. Copies of the Bill may be obtained from the PMG Website - www.pmg.org.za, or alternatively you may get the copy from Mr Nkosekhaya Lala.
