Wager in Online Casinos
When you decide to embark on the adventure of online casino gaming, you might not know which online casino to start with.
That’s why The FXI Team is here to offer you the best platforms in the online casino market.
As you’ll notice on our site, many online casinos are featured, each offering different welcome bonuses.
Among these offers, they all have one thing in common: the wager. Whether it’s a welcome bonus with a wager, or without one, online casinos offer a variety of deals to attract you.
For those unfamiliar with what a wager is, how to increase your chances of completing it, and what to avoid while fulfilling it, The FXI Team will guide you through the system.
What is a Wager?
So, what is a wager? This is a common question for many people entering the online casino world.
A wager is quite simple to understand: if you choose a welcome bonus with a wager, you must complete it before you can withdraw any of your winnings. It’s that simple—the wager is the condition you need to meet before you can withdraw your potential winnings. If you don’t finish the wager, you won’t be able to withdraw your money.
The wager is a requirement set by the online casino you’re playing on. Typically, the wager applies to the following offers:
- Promotions
- Welcome bonuses
- Free spins on a slot machine
At any time, you can cancel your wager by forfeiting the active bonus. However, make sure to carefully read the terms of each bonus or promotion. Depending on the casino, canceling the withdrawal might result in different levels of financial loss.
Types of Wagers
Just like welcome bonuses, there are many different types of wagers. The FXI Team has outlined the three most common ones found in the casino world:
Wager Only on the Bonus
At some casinos, once you deposit money and accept the welcome bonus, you must complete a wager. In some cases, the wager only applies to your bonus balance. This means you can cancel your welcome bonus at any time and withdraw the cash balance in your account.
For example, if you deposit R100 and the welcome bonus gives you R200, you’ll need to wager on the R200. If the wager is x40, you will need to bet:
40 x 200 = R8,000 before you can withdraw any winnings from your BONUS balance. As previously mentioned, you can withdraw from your CASH balance at any time.
Wager on the Deposit + Bonus Amount
Another type of wager requires you to wager on both the deposit and the bonus amount. To simplify, you must wager 30 times the combined amount of your deposit and bonus before you can withdraw any money.
Still confused? Here’s an example:
You deposit R100, and the welcome offer gives you another R100. Now, you have R200. To figure out how much you need to wager, multiply:
R200 x 30 (since the wager is 30x) = R6,000. You must wager R6,000 before withdrawing your money.
No Wager
The final type of offer is… no wager at all. When you deposit money, you don’t have to complete any wager. You can withdraw your winnings at any time. Any winnings made beyond your deposit can be withdrawn instantly. However, this option is only available at a few select casinos recommended by The FXI Team.
How Does a Wager Work?
For some newcomers to the online casino world, understanding how a wager works might seem challenging. However, calculating a wager is straightforward.
The Wager is Calculated Based on Your Bets
The wager is calculated solely based on your bets. The money you win during your game session does not count toward the wager.
Here’s how it’s calculated: Let’s say you need to complete a wager of R1,000. If you play on a slot machine with R1 spins, each spin will count for 0.10% of the wager. After 1,000 spins at R1 per spin (totalling R1,000), you will have completed your wager. The speed at which you complete the wager depends on how much you bet per spin.
Your Wager Progress Depends on the Games You Play
Be mindful that different games contribute differently to your wager.
For instance, some online casinos count live games at 100% toward your wager, meaning if you bet R1 in a live game, it will fully count toward the wager. However, other casinos may only count live games at 5% or less. This means that betting R1 on a blackjack game, for example, may only contribute R0.05 toward the wager.
In most cases, bets placed on slot machines count 100% toward the wager. However, it’s always wise to read the terms and conditions of each casino before signing up or depositing money.
Rules to Follow with a Wager
If you sign up for an online casino and take advantage of a welcome offer, you’ll need to follow certain rules. While the casino offers you bonus money, there are conditions you must meet in return. These include bet limits, restricted slot machines, game types, and even bonus hunts. Each casino has its own rules for wagering, so we highly recommend reading the terms for each bonus carefully.
If you win money with a welcome bonus but haven’t followed the rules, the casino may refuse your withdrawal request.
Some Slots Are Restricted
The FXI Team would like to remind you that when you sign up for an online casino, take time to read the terms of the bonus. Some slot machines may be restricted during the wagering period. If you place bets on these restricted slots while using a welcome bonus, the casino might reject a potential withdrawal.
Respect Bet Limits
Just like some slots or live games are restricted, you also need to follow bet limits. Most casinos don’t allow players to bet more than R5 per spin when using a welcome bonus.
If you exceed this bet limit, your withdrawal request may be denied.
The FXI Team provides detailed bet limit conditions for each casino we review. You can easily find this information in the small blue tab with an “i” inside.
Which Slots Help You Wager?
When completing a wager, you have several playing options.
You can look for a balance boost by playing highly volatile slots that offer significant balance increases. However, keep in mind that these slots can quickly eat up your balance if luck isn’t on your side. The FXI Team recommends the following high-volatility slots that could significantly boost your balance if luck is in your favor:
- Sweet Bonanza
- Pirots 2
- Monkey Pop
Alternatively, you can take a gentler approach by playing low-volatility slots with a higher RTP.
Remember, there is no single “technique” that guarantees success. Since casino outcomes are entirely random, it’s impossible to know in advance which approach will be more successful.
Another crucial factor in completing a wager is bankroll management. Managing your balance effectively will greatly improve your chances of finishing the wager.
